Common uses for compost include:

Soil Amendment
Till 2-4” of compost into the top six inches of existing soil to increase organic matter and improve water retention.
Mulch
Rake or blow a 2” cover over existing beds for weed control, to protect root zones and increase water retention.
Planting Soil Mixes
We blend compost with our native, free draining, Nooksack Valley Sandy Loam and Sands to manufacture a number of rich soil blends.
*All of our composts are heated to temperatures exceeding 150 degrees to kill weed seed & pathogens.

GET Compost

GET Compost is made from yard debris and food scraps recycled by Whatcom County residents and contractors. After processing, it is screened to 1/2” and tested to meet US Compost Council and State Standards. Yard debris compost provides slow nutrient release into soils and works as a water infiltrator.

Cost: $32/yard, including sales tax.
*Our GET compost is now available in 1.5 cubic feet bags. Each bag is $8 before tax and available for purchase at our yard.*

NW Blend Compost   *Limited Availability

A blend of GET Compost and Dairy Solid Compost. This mix provides both immediate and long term nutritional support to landscapes and vegetables. The dairy solids come from Whatcom County dairymen. This mix benefits your garden and landscape, and is a sustainable product for local jobs and our economy!

Cost: $38/yard, including sales tax.

Mulches- Most of our materials meet low phosphorous standards for use in the Watershed.

Fine Bark Mulch

Fine bark mulch is made with Fine Fir and Hemlock Bark. It is a nice, smooth textured ground cover that acts as a weed barrier and also adds curb appeal to your landscape.


Cost: $45.61/yard, including sales tax.

Dark GET Mulch

Made with GET Compost and is a great option for top dressing. Our most fertile and darkest colored mulch offered.

  • Provides a protective cover
  • Retains moisture
  • Protects roots from temperature changes
  • Full of nutrients


A great option for water conservation, keeping your weeds down, and help combat erosion.

3Way Topsoil Mixes

Garden — Compost & Soil Products in Whatcom County, WA

Lawn and Garden Mix

Manufactured soil; designed for the Northwest climate, rich in organic material and free draining mineral soils to provide stability for plant and grass roots while still light and loose for vegetables.

Content – Made of sandy loam topsoil, clean sand and compost materials are screened to 1/2”.

Uses – New and existing lawns and garden beds. Good for all general gardening use.

Benefits of our Lawn & Garden Mix:

  • Stays loose and free draining—easy to maintain
  • New lawns plantings green up quickly
  • Rakes out easily
  • Good balance of Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium
  • pH and microelements are desirable and require no chemical adjustment
  • Mole resistant

Care - Added fertilizers should be low in in potassium (K).

Garden Topsoil


A nice compost and soils mix, good for most gardening uses.  A healthy portion of rich compost makes this suitable for vegetable and flower gardens. 

Content – Loamy Sand, Sandy Loam & Green Earth Technology Compost blended/screened to ½”

Uses – Our best topsoil for raised beds, flower and planting beds and vegetable gardening

Benefits of our Garden Topsoil:

  • Good balance of Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium
  • pH and microelements are desirable and require no chemical adjustment.
  • Minimal degradation of the organic fraction keeps raised bed from substantial shrinkage.
Care - Fertilizer or organic amendments should be incorporated in future growing seasons to replace the organic portion that was taken up by plants.

Cost:    $38.50/yard, including sales tax.

Farmer lay down soil — Compost & Soil Products in Whatcom County, WA

Bio-Soil Media (BSM)

Excellent for use where clay soils are prevalent. Improves drainage and adds rich organics.

Content - A blend of coarse sand and Green Earth Technology (GET) compost.

Uses -Best used with native plants and for rain gardens.

Care- When used by itself may require irrigation during dry season.
